What's more, Savitar suggested that Barry had a chance to kill him in the future. Iris' death could very well prevent Barry from evolving into the hero he was once destined to become, and instead send him down a much darker path. This could be the crucial moment where Barry Allen dies and "Savitar" arrives. By removing that prospect, Barry Allen no longer has the future he thought was set in stone, and thus he loses all hope. When he discovered that 2024 newspaper with the byline from "Iris Allen-West," he built his life around the fact that they would one day be together. Iris is Barry's future she is the one thing he has clung to since Season 1. While Iris' death would certainly cause Barry to suffer, we must also take into consideration the fact that Iris' death could be the one thing to "break" Barry. As such, it's important to Savitar that Barry watch Iris die. "I want so badly to kill you, and I will, but you have to live a little while longer, long enough to see Iris die," he hissed at Barry in the episode. RELATED: The Flash: Abra Kadabra Knows Something About Savitar in New SynopsisĪdditionally, Savitar told Barry that he can't kill him - at least, not yet. In fact, the only time at which Savitar refers to Barry by his codename is in this interesting line of dialogue: "I am the future, Flash." The way the line is delivered almost sounds as though Savitar is saying "future Flash," rather than directly addressing Barry. This implies some intimacy, or at least the fact that there is a point at which Barry ends and Flash begins, that they are two separate entities. Additionally, aside from one key moment, Savitar only refers to Barry by his first name - not as Flash, but as Barry. For one, Savitar talks about the future a lot he rarely mentions anything else, as if his sole purpose is to remind Barry that Savitar is the future there is nothing beyond him. Of course, there's plenty more to that theory, but - for the sake of brevity - we're going to focus on the events of "The Wrath of Savitar" here, particularly Savitar's last exchange with Barry. Further, his guilt over Wally West's death ultimately drove him to try and kill his younger self in an effort to heal the Speed Force. In "Out of Time," Flash's constant time travel was also reason for the Speed Force decay he so desperately wanted to fix. For one, the show's Savitar looks much more like "Out of Time's" future Barry than he does the comic book version of the character. When Wally tried to sucker punch Savitar from behind, Savitar blocked his punch and slammed him into the wall Flash Vol."Out of Time" begs comparison with the current storyline on "The Flash" for several reasons. This makes sense considering the fact that throughout the entire story when Savitar was using his speed, he was introduced as being equal to Wally and is as fast and stronger than him based on Wally's own statement in the same issue in the same fight before Jennie came to him. Based on Iris's statement, Wally can't beat Savitar Flash Vol. This is really impressive because all three of them had a clear shot at Savitar and both Jay, Max and even Jesse showed light speed+ reaction speed.ĭuring the time Wally was fighting Savitar, Iris (Wally's Aunt) had information about what will happen in the future and when she decided to reveal it, Jennie Ognats (Bart's cousin) came to Wally to tell him about it. While fighting Wally across Keystone City, Max, Jay and Jesse were about to stop Savitar and all three of them were blitzed at the same time Flash Vol. He also blitzed Jesse and one shotted her and she is actually way faster than John Flash Vol. His origin is also explained in Flash Secret Files #1 (1997) and The DC Comics Encyclopedia #2 - DC Comics Encyclopedia Updated and Expanded (2008). Savitar is actually the reason why Max gathered the Flash Family, so they can stop him. As for his origin, The Flash Family found out about it while reading one of Max Mercury's files. Besides flashbacks and references, Savitar made only one appearance outside of the story. He is actually responsible for death of Johnny Quick (in a way). He battled Wally West, Jay Garrick, Max Mercury, Bart Allen and Jesse and John Quick.

Savitar is the main villain of the story Dead Heat written by Mark Waid. Please don't spoil anything about Season 3, I have yet to watch it.

And because Savitar is the villain in Season 3 of the Flash TV Show (everybody knows it, some people love it, some people hate it, most people watch it), I decided to make a respect thread for comic book version of Savitar so you people can see how powerful he is in the comics. I love to make respect threads, especially about characters who don't have one (in or out of vine).
